3-on-3 basketball coming to the Olympics?

Are you ready to join the ranks of the great Olympians ? FIBA (Florida International Basketball Association)  is making a push to have three-on-three basketball part of the Olympics' menu of events as early as the 2016 Games, according USA Today.

According to USA Today:

Basketball's international governing body believes that three-on-three being adopted into the Games would help build the sport's brand across the globe and create more opportunities for those who aspire to be Olympians.

"We've chosen three-on-three as being one way of bringing that community into the Games," FIBA's secretary-general Patrick Baumann told USA Today. "For us, this is also really about growing the mass of players on a grass-roots basis. We want them to be part of the family and hopefully have new talents for the game."

FIBA hopes that it can soon implement an international rankings system that would determine the best trios in the world. From there, each country can do whatever it wants to figure out who represents it at the Olympics.

If the 3 on 3 competition does make it to the Olympics, will the make the games more or less entertaining. Will this game be international or just a playground game ? Should they try to at least let everybody come out for an olympic trail ? How would they pick 3 people ?

These are just questions one would ask being that they want to expand the brand of basketball. I, for one, will be looking forward to the 3 on 3 compettion. Then even the common people can try to win a medal. but in all fairness I think that if you played International on a professional level you should be excluded.
